The Japanese word "bishoujo" literally
means "pretty girl." So, "bishoujo gaming"
is a very special type of game that focuses on beautiful young
women, in one way or another. The main character might still be
a guy, technically, but the entire focus of the story will still
be on the girls.
This type of game is incredibly popular in Japan,
and makes up a very important portion of the videogames that are
produced each year. Software stores have entire sections devoted
to bishoujo games, and dozens of companies strive to release many
excellent titles to please their fans. There are many monthly
publications solely devoted to the bishoujo games -- some of the
publications are for the customers, and some are industry publications
for dealers only. There are approximately 50 bishoujo games released
each month in Japan!
Naturally, many of these games are adult, whether
hardcore or softcore, because they often deal with young adult
characters in some way, with many erotic fantasies and fetishes
represented.
  
Since bishoujo games really only have a requirement
for the storyline to have a focus on pretty girls, the genre is
very broad, indeed. In fact, you can find bishoujo games for any
possible taste - fighting games, sports games, puzzle games, life
simulation games, romance/love simulation games, RPG/Adventure,
"bring-up" games, and anything else you can imagine!
The worlds of bishoujo gaming have just as great a variety, from
fictional everyday school life to inventive fantasy lands to worlds
in other galaxies and dimensions - even virtual worlds that are
just computer-generated are popular settings for bishoujo game
storylines. Sometimes the stories are funny, sometimes they are
mysterious, sometimes they're dramatic, and sometimes they are
downright frightening - but they all feature some of the most
beautiful artwork, lush environments, emotional music, moving
storylines, and wonderful characters you'll ever hope to meet
in your gaming experience!
Of course, we should point out that any character
engaged in sexually explicit situations in our games is 18 years
or older, and no actual minor was used in the creation of any
image in any of our games. But you probably already knew that!
